Events & Activities!!

Just like the "Deals, deals, deals!!" thread, I thought it'd be great to have an event and activity thread. I'm often out of the loop on what's going on around town, but thought if we all post under this thread I-and you--wouldn't miss out. So please be sure to post your activities here. Be sure to mention links or other information that will be helpful to our readers. Thanks in advance for your posts!!

  3. Foxwood Springs Annual Festival of Bargains September 18-19. The following information came from http://www.foxwoodsprings.org/fsrcnews.pdf :

"Our regular venues, the Bargain Barn, the Thrift Shop and Furniture Garages, and the Gift Shop will be open as usual on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday of that weekend, but we have many
more activities planned for our visitors on
September 18-19. Bob and Esther Wertenberger
and their friends have picked blackberries, and
Betty Wilkerson and her baking crew are
preparing delicious blackberry cobblers and pies
for sale. Norma Lilja, in addition to serving as
Co-manager of the Thrift Shop, is baking peach
cobblers, and we have other bakers who are
planning to bake cookies, cakes, pies, cobblers,
bread, rolls, etc. for sale at the Festival. As usual, relishes and the Fall Festival famous Nell’s mustard will also be available for sale.
Rosemarie Goos is again preparing for our silent
auction, and she will have some very interesting
new items to be sold. Frances Marsden is in
charge of our raffle. This year she has a cross
stitch pink and white queen size quilt in the
Williamsburg pattern, a revolving bookshelf, and a 9" by 13" stained glass picture to raffle. She has a team of ticket sellers who will sell tickets during September at Foxwood and to our visitors during the days of the Festival. Raffle tickets are $1.00 for each and six tickets for $5.00. Other venues include Linens and Other Lovely Things, Jewelry,
Plants, the Wood Shop, and the Holiday Shop."

  5. Pumpkin Hollow
Come and get lost in our patch of pre-picked pumpkins.
From big and small to round and tall, you'll find a pumpkin you like and so much more at the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead's Pumpkin Hollow:
    Oct. 2-29, 2009
    10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays
    10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends

$7 admission fee, children and adults (under 1 free)
At Pumpkin Hollow, a horse-drawn wagon ride will take you to and from the patch where each person gets to take home a pumpkin of his or her choice. Once there, you can:
     Get lost in a corn/hay maze
     Fish for pumpkins
     Climb a hay pyramid
 Play in a "corn" box
     Shoot pumpkin hoops and
 Participate in the creepy, crawly snake jump.
This is the farmstead's primary fundraiser.
For more information, call 913/897-2360 .
